About Reflexology

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, non-invasive form of touch therapy which can be easily adapted to most people. It works on the principle that reflexes or specific points on the feet relate to the different parts of the body. I use massage techniques and gentle pressure on the reflexes to promote deep relaxation, encourage balance and to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. Reflexology is a holistic therapy used to treat each person as a whole rather than just in terms of their symptoms or illnesses. Reflexology is also a complimentary therapy meaning that it can work alongside conventional medical treatment.

How can Reflexology Help?

  • Relaxation

  • Improved sleep

  • Tension release

  • Increased wellbeing

  • Improved mood

Reflexology can offer a way to become more connected to ourselves and bodies. It allows for time to let go of thoughts and concerns. The aim of treatments is to activate the body's own natural healing processes. We all have the ability to heal and recover, but sometimes barriers get in the way. Stress can be a factor. During a reflexology treatment the nervous system has the opportunity to move out of the stress response and into the 'rest and digest' mode. In this state the body is able to use energy that was being directed towards survival for processes such as cell repair, nutrient absorption, immune system enhancement and improved digestion. In this state the body restores itself in the way that it needs to.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

RLD is an award winning reflexology technique developed by Sally Kay. She created it while working in cancer care with women who had breast cancer-related lymphodema.

The lymphatic system is involved with fluid balance, waste removal and with the immune system, protecting the body from infection. The aim of Reflexology Lymph Drainage is to improve the function of this system. It is a specialised technique which is gentle and relaxing and can be performed on the feet or the hands. It is used to support the body's detoxification processes and assist the movement, flow and drainage of the lymphatic system.

I trained with Sally Kay and am on the directory for RLD practitioners.
